Geri Halliwell Talks Spice Girls Reunion

Before there were Swifties, Spice Girls fans made five British women a household name.
Now those die-hard fans are hopeful that a Spice Girls reunion might be in the works, thanks to recent comments by Geri Halliwell, aka “Ginger Spice.”
In an interview with “The Sunday Times,” Halliwell raised fans’ hopes with talk of reuniting with Melanie “Mel B” Brown, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham and Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm. “My hope is we come back together as a collective. It’s more respectful to come as one,” she told the Times. When asked if she means the five of them will come together for a Spice Girls reunion, she added, “There will be something. We’ll come as one.”
According to Halliwell, relations are good between all five members of the pop group, saying, “”We love each other. I love them, I care about them, we want the best for each other. We shared something so monumental. We’ve always believed in each other, had trust in each other, which is beautiful.”
Nearly 30 years later, reunions have been few and far between.
The last time the band performed together was during the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony. Each arriving on stage in an iconic London black cab, the five performed a medley of their hits complete with full choreography.
Victoria Beckham Has Opted Out of Past Spice Girls Performances
Since then, Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice) has opted out of Spice Girls performances, choosing to focus on her clothing and beauty lines, and her four children Brooklyn (26), Romeo (22), Cruz (20), and Harper (13) with soccer star David Beckham.
Scary, Baby, Sporty and Ginger Spice all went on a UK Stadium tour minus Posh in 2019. The tour was dubbed “Spice World 2019.”
At the time of the tour, Beckham posted a tribute on her Instagram page, writing, “”Today marks a special day for the girls as they announce the first tour dates since we performed together in 2012! I won’t be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year. I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time! X vb #spicegirls #friendshipneverends”
The Spice Girls did reunite at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday party last April. At the party, the five sang their 1996 song “Mama” while Beckham’s son Cruz played the guitar. They also danced to their 1997 song “Stop” in front of party guests.
